NZEI Paid Union Meeting

The school has been advised by the NZEI Te Rui Roa that it is holding a Paid Union Meeting for primary school teachers – Wednesday 8th May 2019 from 1:30 pm.

The NZEI is the union that represents primary teachers, primary principals and support staff. Under the Employment Relations Act, paid union meetings are a legal entitlement to discuss union business. In our experience, the NZEI call paid union meetings infrequently and only when they believe that there is urgent and important business to discuss with its members. In this case, Employment Agreement matters.

All NZEI primary teacher members are legally entitled to attend their paid union meeting.

We encourage you to either keep your child at home or make some other arrangements for the duration of the meeting. However, if you are keeping your child at school at this time an alternative programme will be provided to her/him. We apologise for any potential disruption to you and your child’s routine on the day of the meeting.

OUR SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS for Wednesday 8th May 2019.
1. The school will remain open on the afternoon of Wednesday 8th May 2019 (Week 2).
2. Parents/caregivers may collect their children from school at 12:30 pm or they may go home at this time with your permission (noted on the form below).
3. If parents/caregivers are unable to make suitable alternative arrangements for their children from 12:30 pm on Wednesday 8th May 2019, suitable arrangements for them staying at school will be made.

Please return the tear-off slip on the pink note sent home this week please indicate whether your children will be at school after 12:30 pm on Wednesday 8th May 2019 and return the slip to the school office a.s.a.p. (by Friday 3rd May 2019 at the latest please).
