The school has adopted a sun-smart policy to educate children in preventing sun-burn and reducing the risk of melanoma later in life.
During Terms 1 and 4 it is compulsory for children to wear suitable hats with brims or flaps to protect necks, ears and faces. Caps are not suitable. The school has a ‘No hat, play in the shade’ policy. Several shaded areas have been developed in the playground and and children without suitable hats will be restricted to these areas and verandah areas at lunchtimes during the sunnier months.
Children should also wear capped or long sleeved tops (no singlets or strappy summer dresses please).
Sun-block is also essential. Please apply in the morning before school. Sunscreen is available in classrooms for top-ups during the day. School outdoor activities will be restricted to the early hours of the morning wherever possible.
